Grant Enfinger -- Darlington Preview

“I’m really looking forward to running Darlington (Raceway) on Sunday. The track has so much history and has put on so many great races over the years. I’ve never actually even been to the track, so my first laps will be under the pace laps on Sunday.

(Jeff) Hensley on the other hand has a lot of experience at Darlington. We’re approaching the weekend similar to how we approach Homestead (Miami Speedway). There are some differences, but from a drivability, and tire-wear standpoint, we feel like it will be similar. We’re also utilizing the Ford Performance Simulator to help us prepare.” - Grant Enfinger

News and Notes:

  • Darlington Debut… Sunday’s South Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Darlington Raceway will be the first time in nine years the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series has tackled “The Lady In Black.” In fact, there have only been six Gander Truck events at the 1.366-mile track since the first series race on May 12, 2001. Grant Enfinger, who will make his track debut, with 30 other drivers on Sunday, will start from the seventh position, when the field takes the green flag in the 147-lap event.

  • Our Fearless Leader… Enfinger may be making his track debut at the “Track Too Tough To Tame,” but crew chief Jeff Hensley has called the shots for 33 races at Darlington Raceway including three races in the Gander Truck Series (2004, 2010-2011), which included two second-place finishes, and 30 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (1987-2001).

  • Music To Our Ears… Curb Records recording artist, Mo Pitney will make his debut on the No. 98 Ford F-150 in Sunday’s South Carolina Education Lottery 200. To preview his sophomore album, Ain’t Lookin Back, visit: Curb.com.

  • Playoff Outlook… In 14 starts this season, Enfinger has two wins and 11 Playoff Points with only two races remaining in the Regular Season. However, if the Playoffs were to start today, the ThorSport Racing driver would be ranked fourth on the Playoff grid, with 14 points.

  • This Week's No. 98 FarmPaint.com/Curb Records Ford F-150... The No. 98 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 44 for Sunday’s South Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Darlington Raceway. This particular chassis has been raced three times this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Kentucky Speedway.

  • 2020 Stats… In 14 starts this season, Enfinger has led 86 laps en route to two wins (Daytona and Atlanta), four top-five and seven top-10 finishes, with an average finish of 11.4.

  • Truck Series Stats… Enfinger has 97 career Gander Truck starts to his credit since 2010. His success includes 660 laps led en route to four wins, five poles, 32 top-five and 60 top-10 finishes.

  • Take Me Back – Gateway… Enfinger started 11th, based on a performance-based metric, finished 16th in Stage 1 and 19th in Stage 2, due to an overheating issue and being mired in traffic. However, the FarmPaint.com driver finished eighth in the CarShield 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, his third top-10 finish at the 1.25-mile track.

  • Ford Fact… Ford-powered F-150's have found victory lane 102 times since 1995 in the Gander Truck Series. However, Darlington Raceway is one of only three tracks, based on the current 2020 schedule, that Ford Performance has yet to find victory lane.
